Unemployment levels drop to 8.38%

According to the National Employment Agency, the level of unemployment in Bulgaria in April 2007 was 8.38%. In comparison to March 2007, the level has dropped by 0.54 points, and as a result, the officially registered unemployed in the country add up to 310 260 people.  

The number economically active individuals also shows a positive trend, amounting 3.4 million people. The coefficient of economic activity has increased by 2.4 points, in the last three months, reaching a level of 51.3%.

National Statistical Institute data shows that the number of employed in the country is increasing by 194 900 on annual basis. The largest increase of employed individuals is observed to be in the construction sector.

83.7% of the job opportunities originate from the private sector. 21.6% of those are announced as seasonal positions. The largest number of new positions is in the manufacturing industry (518 positions), followed by trade (436 positions) and agriculture (257 positions).
